About the role
THE POSITION:
The Executive Manager – Finance and Operations reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for managing and ensuring strategic effectiveness and systems in the finance, business and planning operations of Fairtrade across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific and is a key member of the organisation’s leadership team.
The successful applicant will become a trusted adviser to the Melbourne based CEO, enabling the management and motivation of staff and projects. This is a role for someone great at not only reporting on numbers, but a natural at identifying, directing and managing resources in innovative and creative ways. Collaborating effectively inside and outside of the organisation, you will build relationships with a range of teams and stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds and geographic locations from throughout our network of Fairtrade partner businesses, donors and governmental organisations and may involve some international travel.
The role demands a meticulous approach, great integrity and a dedicated commitment to proactively supporting the effectiveness and impact of Fairtrade Australia and New Zealand and the global fair trade movement.
The selected candidates will have excellent communication skills and a capacity to analyse multi-regional programmatic data under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
The Executive Manager Finance & Operations is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for leading and overseeing the efficiency and effectiveness of all corporate operations including finance, governance, business systems, legal services, information management and technology.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement systematic, valid organisational performance measures, both financial and operational, to be made available to the Board, Management, Employees and other Stakeholders.
• Conduct annual and ongoing organisation-wide business planning, budgeting and monitoring.
• Manage and participate in financial operations, including cash flow management, investments, daily and monthly accounting and payroll processes, annual external reporting and audit, statutory and taxation returns and monthly reporting to the Finance, Audit, Risk and Management Committee and the Board.
• Provide strategic and material inputs in relation to fundraising proposals.
• Manage organisation-wide functions in risk management, legal services, office administration, workplace safety and corporate governance.
• Ensure information technology platforms are appropriate, cost-effective, reliable and minimise risk to the organisation.
