McAuley Community Services for Women, a ministry of the Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea, is committed to advocate for a better, safer and just society, through working with women and their children affected by family violence, mental illness or homelessness. McAuley House supports women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness on their journey towards recovery and independence by providing medium term accommodation, skill development and intensive and individualised case management support.

About the role

Food for My Life Facilitator
Part time, 30 hours/week

We have a newly created position as Food for My Life Facilitator. This position will prepare daily meals as well as leading empowering classes for groups and individuals around meal preparation, healthy eating and hygienic cooking practices.

Ideally applicants will be able to demonstrate:
• Experience in individual support in daily living activities and ability to care for the women and children residing at McAuley House.
• Prior experience in residential support and ability to work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and other staff.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a broader team delivering outcomes.
• Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act, Child Safe Standards and the Common Risk Assessment Framework.
• Previous experience in the mental health, family violence and or homelessness sector.
• High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.

A Police check, a Working with Children Check and a current driver’s license are required prior to commencement. Salary will be negotiated in accordance with the SCHADS Award and experience. Salary packaging is also available.
