The Assembly is the national council of the Uniting Church and has responsibility in all matters of doctrine, worship, government and discipline which sets national policy and promotes the Church's mission in the world. Frontier Services is an integral part of the Assembly, working with people in remote areas of Australia, with Indigenous communities, on isolated properties and mining sites and with remote communities. Frontier Services supports and resources Patrol Ministry and pastoral support, and provides drought relief and community recovery through volunteer assistance.

About the role

Reporting operationally to the General Secretary of the Assembly and accountable to the Board of Frontier Services, the role of National Director will provide overall management for the organisation, as well as strategic fundraising expertise in order for Frontier Services to achieve its goals and objectives, as well as leading a small, high performing team. This role is based in Sydney, however regular travel to remote and rural communities will be required.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate experience in entrepreneurial business development, fundraising and communications across a church or similar not-for-profit environment, people leadership, change management, strategic thinking and execution, and contemporary communication technologies.

Familiarity with and an understanding of the social, environmental, political and spiritual landscape, including the challenges and opportunities of regional and remote Australia is essential. An understanding of the Uniting Church, its ethos and structure, would be considered advantageous, as would tertiary qualifications in a related field.

This role requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills in order to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders. Significant project management experience and the ability to multi-task across projects and organisations is key, as is delivering on fundraising goals and maintaining an effective volunteer program.
