About the role

The Philanthropy Manager is responsible for facilitating and assisting innovative program development alongside the Director of Corporate and Government Relations, Director of Programs and Programs staff, to ensure The Song Room is continuously identifying program areas and organisational needs which are suitable for potential philanthropic funding.

This role will undertake a portfolio of grant writing and relationship development tasks and will work in an end-to-end fashion to identify, research, engage, submit, follow up, report on and acquit allocated potential and existing philanthropic funding accounts.
The role contributes to government and corporate stakeholder opportunities and development of programs and funding submissions to specific purpose government and corporate grant programs.

This role also contributes to the continuous development of an evidence base of secondary research to support Program rationale and funding proposals. As the key role responsible for maintaining Philanthropic relationships, the Philanthropy Manager also researches and reviews best practice philanthropic partnerships and advises The Song Room on key trends, research and organisations influencing the Philanthropic sector in Australia.

Required skills and experience:

  • Meeting fundraising targets from philanthropic organisations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and/or connections to Australian Trusts, Foundations and Private Ancillary Funds
  • Identifying funding priorities across a range of program opportunities with a view to developing fundable projects
  • Excellent account management and relationship development skills
  • Producing high quality, timely reports and acquittals
  • Contributing to the evaluation process of funded projects
  • Effectively using a CRM
  • Strong financial reporting skills
  • Working effectively, and often unsupervised in a fast-paced, busy team environment
  • High-level planning and time management skills

    Preferred skills and experience:

  • Working in a national not for profit organisation
  • Working with and supporting program staff working interstate
  • Using Salesforce as a CRM
  • In the education or arts sectors
