Based at the Australian Institute of Sport in Bruce, you will join a talented team and utilise your strong leadership skills to lead the finance function and help nurture an agile and entrepreneurial approach, whilst partnering with the business and the Executive to achieve strategic objectives.

About the role

The Opportunity:

This is an opportunity for a professional, ‘up and coming’ CPA/CA to excel in a high performing team, passionate about their cause. Working to the CEO, it is a chance to develop financial leadership capabilities towards the CFO level. Managing a capable team, you will enjoy a collaborative and dynamic approach to commercial growth. The business has advanced from managing 600 to over 2200 projects in the last 3 years and the business areas rely on intuitive financial forecasting, reporting and information to support decision making.

The Role:

The role will develop along with the organisation, and key responsibilities include:

  • Drive collaboration and best practise within the Finance team
  • Provide professional leadership, management, mentoring and training for members of the Finance team
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial information is prepared in accordance with the required Statutory requirements and accounting policies
  • Supporting the Sports Foundation’s strategic business plan working in conjunction with the Executive Team.
  • Provide strong business partnering to the Executive team including supporting business cases and assisting with business plans
  • Preparing financial statements, budgets and forecast cash flows. Lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts and work papers, and oversee the external audit process and the relationship with the Foundation’s auditors.
  • Manage tax compliance, including GST and FBT, and ensure accurate and timely submission of BAS.
  • Work with the CEO to ensure that the Sports Foundations cash flow adequately supports activities and ensure detailed cash flow projections are accurate. Responsibility for the cashflow forecasting and cash management activities of the Foundations, including providing variance analysis and commentary.
  • Manage the relationship with the Finance Audit & Risk Committee (in conjunction with the CEO) and report to the Committee and Board as appropriate. Manage Insurances for the Sports Foundation
  • Ensure appropriate controls are developed, implemented and maintained, and oversee the Foundation’s risk framework
  • Collaboratively support and participate in system implementation and improvements, and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Financial Systems and reporting requirements for the Sports Foundation, its external stakeholders and board

  • Strong technical accounting fundamentals ideally formed in a well-regarded accounting firm or commercial business

The Salary:

$120 – $135K + Super
