About the role

What is the Australian Paralympic Committee looking for in their Fundraising Executive?

Reporting to the General Manager, Commercial and Marketing, you are a crucial member of the Commercial and Marketing Department. You will be responsible for both traditional fundraising activities as well as new, innovative initiatives, with the experience to operate in a fast-paced, hands on, competitive sports environment. You will be a person with the ability to create the best possible execution plan in order to increase donor acquisition, reduce donor attrition and grow income in the long term.

What does the Senior Fundraising Executive do?

You will develop an annual Fundraising Operational Plan in response to the organisation’s Fundraising Strategy. You will test, select and measure strategies and tactics according to market conditions with your primary purpose being to deliver a strong net return across all fundraising campaigns.
Day to day you will research, manage relationships, communicate and deliver on agreed income against prospects and existing accounts. You will be expected to take the lead on managing delegated accounts, as agreed, and contribute to the development of fundraising plans.

Your success will be reliant on your ability to grow fundraising across the organisation. You will need to –
• Grow Community & High Value Giving revenue
• Develop and execute a fundraising plan across multi-channels (Regular Giving, Direct Response, Community Events, Workplace Giving, Online Fundraising, Corporate and Foundation Grants, Corporate Events, High Value Giving)
• Manage relationships with donors to maximise retention and with key suppliers to maximise net return
• Manage policies, systems and processes within the Fundraising division to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness
• Monitor the fundraising marketplace for shifts in corporate engagement as well as community giving and work with the General Manager – Commercial & Marketing to revise Fundraising Strategy accordingly
• Manage all fundraising resources including online platforms, e.g. Salesforce, Mail Chimp etc.
• Measure success against objectives, target revenue and KPIs
• Work collaboratively with external fundraising specialist agency/s
A natural organiser, you will need to manage Fundraising activities/events as agreed, either alone or in conjunction with other members of the Commercial & Marketing team. Finally, your ability to communicate at all levels will see you handle inquiries that come to the fundraising team and be able to respond flexibly.

To be successful, you will need to –
• Demonstrate a high level of awareness of Australian Paralympic Committee values
• Achieve annual fundraising targets
• Demonstrate excellent time management skills
• Build rapport and credibility
• Demonstrate the ability to problem solve quickly and respond to matters as they arise
• Have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Occasionally work after hours as required

You will be expected to have –
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in fundraising
• Experience managing competing responsibilities
• Experience in working with diverse stakeholder groups
• An empathy for the Sports Industry
• Experience of working to and achieving financial targets
• Excellent organisational skills with thorough attention to detail and ability to plan ahead
• Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to deal with clients at all levels.
• Strong written communication skills including the ability to develop persuasive proposals and clear reports as well as data management skills.
