About the organisation
Diabetes Australia is the national body for people affected by all types of diabetes and those at risk. It partners with consumers, health professionals and researchers to raise awareness about the seriousness of diabetes, promote prevention and early detection strategies, advocate for better management of diabetes, and reduce the overall impact of diabetes.
Diabetes Australia delivers a wide range of services through the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) on behalf of the Australian Government and provides practical assistance and information to over 1.2 million Australians currently registered with diabetes.
About the role
Reporting to the CEO, the key focus of your role will be to significantly increase Diabetes Australia’s strategic fundraising activities and income by:
- engaging directly with leaders in business and philanthropy to harness major gifts and partnerships;
- developing new, high-value fundraising strategies such as “signature” campaigns; and
- stewardship of major bequests and planned giving.

Experience and skills required
You may work in a relevant role with a “for purpose” organisation or be a senior sales/marketing person in a relational, commercial environment. You are:
- entrepreneurial, energetic and self-motivated;
- self-confident to “make the ask” and negotiate at board and senior level;
- an excellent strategic relationship builder and networker;
- able to demonstrate a significant track record at a senior level in strategy, planning and implementation of programs;
- passionate about reducing the impact of diabetes – the epidemic of the 21st century.
