At Participate Australia we support people living with intellectual, cognitive and developmental disabilities, as well as their families and carers. Our participants come from diverse backgrounds and live throughout the Inner West, Ryde and Sydney.

We deliver conventional and important support services to people with a disability. Support programs allow carers of people with a disability to meet some of their own needs, knowing that a qualified support worker is caring for their family member.

At Participate Australia we develop innovative independence programs with the people we support, which foster greater autonomy and nurture community engagement.

About the role

About the role/ About the Opportunity
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated strong leadership skills, extensive experience in staff supervision and the management of multi-disciplinary teams in a service delivery environment. Important to this role will be your capacity to support the development of a team focused on high quality person centred care. You will be regarded as someone who is passionate about supporting the rights of people with a disability. The role will require a person with strong problem solving and decision making skills and is able to act positively on feedback.

Key accountabilities:
• Provide leadership, support and supervision of team leaders and disability support workers, models best practice and facilitates an open and fair team environment.
• Manage the team roster to deliver efficient person-centred services in line with the allocated budget.
• Liaise with parents, advocates and guardians to foster open communication and encourage involvement in the lives of the residents.
• Manage the day to day operations of the unit including budget monitoring, service payments and compliance with legislative requirements.
• Monitor and address workplace health and safety risks for residents, staff and visitors at the complex to maintain a safe work environment for all.
• Ensure an exemplary standard of support and service to residents in line with the appropriate standards, underpinned by a human rights framework.
• Ensuring opportunities for residents to achieve their lifestyle goals, in line with NDIS and person-centred plans.

Essential requirements
• 5 years’ management experience in a similar environment.
• Experience providing effective staff supervision and team management.
• Highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with people from all backgrounds.
• Qualifications in disability work or relevant field, or suitable experience in other related fields
• Experience working within budget allocations and rostering of staff for 24/7 support
• Knowledge and experience working with NDIS
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Working With Children Check and National Criminal History Check
• A current valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
