About the organisation
Seniors Rights Victoria provides information, support, advice and education to help prevent elder abuse and safeguard the rights, dignity and independence of older people. Our services include a helpline, specialist legal services and advocacy for individuals and education. Seniors Rights Victoria also provides leadership on policy and law reform and works with organisations and groups to raise awareness of elder abuse.
About the role
Seniors Rights Victoria leads in responding to older people experiencing abuse. This key position is available at a time of growing recognition of elder abuse as a major social issue.
Within the context of ageism and family violence, the Principal Lawyer will lead the legal service and law reform. The position is a great opportunity to achieve justice for a growing demographic.
We seek an experienced and motivated person to:
• Manage a small team of legal professionals providing supervision, development, support and motivation
• Provide legal information, advice and casework to older people, services and professionals on related legal remedies
• Lead SRV law reform projects and contribute to systemic advocacy on issues of elder abuse
This is a full time position. Salary is above award at $92,000 per annum. Tax-free salary packaging up to $15,900 is also available.
