About the role

We are seeking expressions of interest from an experienced social worker who is interested in joining the Family Violence Prevention and Legal Unit (FVPLU) team. The FVPLU is a community legal centre auspiced by the Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre (MWRC) which is based in Fitzroy Crossing, Kimberley, WA. MWRC is a healing informed and trauma aware community organisation that provides a range of services to women and children that positively contribute to the reduction of harm for families across the Fitzroy Valley.

 

About the Position

You will be responsible for providing case management services within the Family Violence Prevention Legal Unit. You will have experience in working holistically with families to implement the actions determined through planning to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of the child, victims of domestic violence and the family unit.  The position is part of a care team that includes a solicitor, counsellor, family safety advocate and client support officer.

 

Key requirements of the position are:

  • BA in Social Work focusing on human behaviour, family dynamics and/or impacts of trauma
  • Minimum 3-5 years post qualification experience preferred
  • Experience of working within a trauma aware and healing informed practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to work flexibly with a small but efficient team
  • Advanced demonstrated understanding and experience in understating assessments, planning and interventions to respond to high risk client needs
  • Experience in working with Indigenous ways of knowing and doing and in a remote Aboriginal setting is preferred but not essential

Competitive salary packaging with additional district allowance as well as housing allowances, flight allowances and attractive salary sacrifice are available for the right candidate, along with 7 weeks annual leave.  Relocation assistance will also be considered depending on individual circumstances.
