Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) is a Not-for-Profit organisation representing and promoting the interests of Queensland independent schools. It works closely with all political parties, government departments and the community promoting the policies and interests of independent schools and the parents who support them.

About the role

The Manager (Teaching and Learning) role will work with Directors, Managers and all staff members to support the operational and strategic goals of ISQ. This is a diverse role with a mix of leadership in the educational context and within an office team. It encompasses project management, research, planning, stakeholder management, process development and reporting functions.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Designing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs and projects for member schools particularly those associated with School Improvement and Research in Schools
  • Providing exemplary leadership to a team responsible for the management, administration and delivery of programs, projects and professional learning for schools
  • Analysing and implementing strategies of state and federal government policy and initiatives which relate to, or impact on, programs and ISQ service delivery to schools
  • Managing the collection, collation and analysis of relevant data from project schools in order to provide support particularly in the areas of teacher-led research, curriculum and pedagogy
  • Drafting a range of quality publications, reports, program guidelines and resources, including assisting the Director (Education Services) in the preparation of reports and submissions in relation to teaching and learning
  • Negotiating agreements and managing contracts with schools, government agencies, consultants and other external service providers
  • Monitoring budgets, timelines and quality assurance of programs and projects to member schools delivered by the Education Services team 
  • Representing member schools and ISQ on national and state committees, reference groups and working parties
  • Providing high level information and advice to senior management of ISQ and to member schools on relevant issues

 

Skills & Experience required

  • Extensive experience in leading pedagogy, curriculum and/or educational reform
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in fostering a cohesive team environment and developing the expertise of staff
  • End to end program and project management skills- you will have comprehensive experience in program implementation, budgeting, compliance, co-ordination and evaluation
  • Experience in policy development and implementation including the review and analysis of policy impact on organisational improvement
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work towards the strategic direction of the company whilst successfully managing the day to day tasks of the role
  • Demonstrated experience in analysing, interpreting and reporting on large sets of data
  • Highly developed organisation, planning and multi-tasking skills
  • Natural ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
