About the organisation

Organisation Name : Community Options Australia Inc.
Established in 1996, Community Options Australia is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to resource community care by bringing together organisations and practitioners across the diversity of the community care sector. We represent members collectively to sector partners and stakeholders and are also a budget holder and contact point for a range of funded programs. We have undertaken significant change over the past few years and, following development of our Strategy 2020, are excited about the future. We have a positive culture and a dynamic approach, supported by an experienced, professional and highly skilled Board and Executive Director.

About the role

As part of ongoing succession planning, the Governance Committee is currently seeking applications to fill two Board Director vacancies which will commence after the AGM in late November.

Board Directors are expected to have the following attributes:
• Expertise in governance
• Organisational strategy
• Financial oversight
• Business transformation and development
• Understanding of customer orientation
• Marketing and digital knowledge
• Understanding of and passion for the community care sector
• Understanding of sector changes and introduction of NDIS and My Aged Care

The successful candidates will be required to join either the Risk and Finance Committee or the Governance Committee. Successful candidates will also need to be a willing team player, with the time and energy required to fully and thoughtfully commit to their role.

The Board usually holds six Sydney face-to-face (half-day) and six teleconference (90 minute) meetings per year, along with a strategy day and occasional out of session teleconferences. The role is a voluntary commitment, with expenses for travel, accommodation and approved training reimbursed.
