Macular disease is the leading cause of vision loss and blindness in Australia. The Macular Disease Foundation Australia is an independent, national, for purpose organisation whose mission is to reduce the incidence and impact of macular disease in Australia. The Foundation is recognised as a world leader in raising awareness of macular degeneration. It is a successful advocate for the health and disability needs of the macular disease community and a lead provider of grant funding for Australian researchers.

Macular Disease Foundation Australia is at an exciting time in their evolution; with a dedicated board, expert staff and volunteers, proven track record for excellence and delivery, it is well positioned to grow and expand its reach under the guidance of an emotionally intelligent and commercially astute leader.

As CEO you will be creative in the careful use of resources to deliver maximized improved social outcomes. Using your exceptional communication skills you will be required to engage and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders, including the macular disease community, including their carers and support networks, researchers, pharmaceutical companies, investors, government, NFP leaders and influencer groups. You must have the presence, intellect and influence to accelerate this complex and important work. You will be a lateral, creative thinker with strong business acumen, demonstrated advocacy and government relations skills and have experience in influencing systemic change. You will have a leadership style that enhances a strong team culture, creates role clarity and accountability for the team, whilst nurturing the autonomy required for innovation, all in the context of a constantly changing environment. You will be capable of managing and leading across all function areas (marketing, fundraising, finance, IT etc) to ensure both funds and profile are raised.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced leader with exemplary strategic, financial, operational and people management skills gained in the public or the private sector in an organisation of equivalent size and complexity. Experience in, or exposure to a non-profit or health sector organisation is highly desirable but not essential.
