About the organisation

Organisation Name : Sands Australia

Sands was formed almost 40 years ago, for parents to share their stories of pregnancy loss, bereavement and grief management. It was the initiation of a peer-support network that quickly spread as independent community groups, now culminating in a network of state organisations that operate across Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. Sands Australia is the umbrella group for these grassroots, community-based organisations. This is an exciting time to join Sands Australia as our impact and services are recognised through an increase in government funding and non-government income

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Fundraising and Communications, the Fundraising & Communications Officer is responsible for providing fundraising and communications support and managing relationships with a wide range of supporters, including individual donors, regular donors, community fundraisers and community groups. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting with content development and maintenance of our communication tools that help increase the profile of the organisation and attract and retain Sands supporters; this includes channels such as our Website, Social Media, E-Newsletters, Print and Press Advertising. We are looking for someone with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to respond flexibly to meet changing needs, priorities and deadlines. The position is part-time (20 hours per week) and based in Box Hill. Days and hours flexible and subject to negotiation.

To be successful as our Fundraising & Communication Officer, you will need to:

  • Provide outstanding customer service to Sands Australia’s supporters
  • Coordinate the acknowledgment and thanking of all donors
  • Experience writing content for fundraising communications
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to the development of newsletters and website content
  • Maintain record keeping of donor activity and information on our database (E-Tapestry)

  • High level of efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail, strong time management skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritise

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to be in possession of or to successfully undergo a National Criminal History Check.
