About the role

 

  • Melbourne based, South Melbourne arts and café precinct location
  • Managing a small team
  • Full-time, $87k package

 

We are seeking to appoint a leading administrator, with strong arts, not-for-profit and/or business management experience, partnered with an entrepreneurial mindset, to fulfil the responsibilities of the role of General Manager.

You will have a strong understanding of a range of cross-sectoral landscapes that Kids Thrive operates in. These may include senior-level experience in the arts, education, health, social welfare, social justice and/or community development – within enterprise and/or not-for-profit organisations.

Reporting to the Creative Directors, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring the organisation is achieving best practice in financial, governance and operational management. The General Manager will also be responsible for managing stakeholders in the government and philanthropic, arts, education, health, social welfare, social justice and community development sectors. The General Manager will also assume an advocacy role for Kids Thrive, promoting our creative ‘child-led community change’ programs within the broader community.

This is an opportunity to step into a key position, contributing to the growth of a ground-breaking, vibrant arts and community development organisation poised to take a major step forward in the reach and impact of its ground-breaking child-led change programs.

 

Experience required

Your skills and experience will be required in the following areas:

  • Operational management

  • Staff & stakeholder management

  • Financial management

  • Business development and fundraising

  • Governance & reporting

Candidates will bring significant experience, and possibly tertiary qualifications, in Arts Management, Accounting, Education, Community Development or related areas. Tertiary qualifications and professional experience in Business/Commerce or a related field will also be highly regarded.

Your capacity to foster happy, focused teams, equally committed to a values-based, social outcomes-driven enterprise, will define your success in this position.
