The Song Room is an innovative and growing not for profit organisation providing music and creative arts programs in disadvantaged schools, with its national office located in Prahran, Melbourne. Our vision is for all Australian children to have the opportunity to participate in music and the arts to enhance their education, personal development and community involvement.

About the role

Working closely and with the support of the Director of Programs and the Program Manager, you will be responsible for co-ordinating a portfolio of The Song Room programs within the Sydney area (predominantly the western and south-western suburbs). This comprises liaising with and supporting the Teaching Artists delivering the programs, the school personnel hosting the programs and building and developing the capacity of each of the
programs.

The key outcomes for this position will be the smooth and effective delivery of the various programs the Regional Program Coordinator will be overseeing and the development and maintenance of strong, effective and positive relationships with The Song Room’s partners. These partners include both internal and external program delivery staff, program hosts (such as schools and community organisations) and program funders in consultation with relevant managers. The position requires strong project management, effective networking and good reporting skills.

Key Selection Criteria:
• High standard of relationship development, consultation and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written, communication and report writing skills
• Strong administration skills and record keeping
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and maintain a high level of attention to detail
• Evidence of project management, planning and experience
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and autonomously
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work to deadlines
• Extensive experience in the provision of arts programs particularly for children
• Knowledge of working in the school environment
• Knowledge of working in the community sector
• Preference for creative arts background
• Current Drivers Licence and car
• Current Working With Children’s Check or State Equivalent
