About your environment Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. The Victorian Cancer Biobank (VCB), which forms part of Cancer Council’s Strategy and Support Division, was established to provide high quality, clinically annotated bio specimens to the academic and commercial sectors studying cancer. The VCB is comprised of five biobanks located within major teaching hospitals across Victoria. The Biobank Connect Program aims to develop a state wide network of biobanks collaborating to ensure common goals and outcomes, standardise access policies, procedures and protocols, and create synergies that ensure coordination of bio banking activity. This includes a long term aim of replicating the state wide network to a national network.

About the role

•Lead partnerships to connect the Victorian biobank network and standardise state wide practices
•Play a key role informing plans for a future national network
•Fixed term position until 30 June 2018 – St Kilda Road, Melbourne

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Program Manager to join the VCB Central Operations team. Reporting to the Executive Officer, your role is to:

•Lead the development of partnerships across sectors and bio banking networks, to foster collaboration and improve coordination of bio banking activity.
•Identify opportunities to standardise processes, policies, procedures and protocols, improving efficiencies and communications across the network.
•Influence and inspire synergies between the VCB and other senior biobank management teams, by developing and promoting common approaches to governance, infrastructure and operational aspects of bio banking.

Use your project management and relationship building skills to progress a state wide bio banking strategy informing the future viability of a national network.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

•Post graduate qualifications in health, policy, communications or related field; and experience in senior level management within a health or research setting.
•Demonstrated understanding of current cancer/bio banking related state and federal policies and the broader cancer related environment, including knowledge of key stakeholders and governance of related organisations.
•Demonstrated experience managing stakeholders and building strong collaborative relationships within and across organisations and disciplines.

What we can offer you

This fixed term position to 30 June 2018 provides a salary within range $77,900 – $92,181 pa commensurate with the position level and experience plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card. We also offer a flexible and friendly work environment, social and wellbeing activities and a location close to public transport.
