The Community Life Section of Council is focused on strengthening the conditions for community wellbeing through planning for, building on and celebrating the strengths, assets and opportunities of the people and places of Campbelltown. We comprise a Social Planning and Partnerships Team, a Place and Projects Team, and a Community Events and Activation Team.

About the role

We now have an opportunity for a motivated and experienced Community Partnerships Officer to – build and champion strategic partnerships within the Campbelltown City to promote community inclusion and wellbeing, and delivering projects and programs that align with Council’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities may include:
• Develop, implement and promote strength/asset based and outcomes focused community programs and activities across Campbelltown City
• Develop constructive community engagement with key strategic stakeholders to strengthen and grow local community organisations, groups and networks in the delivery of the outcomes and priorities in the Community Strategic Plan
• Collaboratively work with the community, key stakeholders, other sections of Council, and team members to support place based projects and initiatives that meet the expressed need of the community and as identified in Council’s Community Strategic Plan

The successful candidate will display the following key skills and attributes:
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences, community development or similar field
• Extensive work related experience in Asset Based Community Development principles and practices
• Specialist experience in implementing community development initiatives in both established and newly developed communities
• Sound understanding of, and commitment to, contemporary place making principles and practices
• Knowledge and understanding of key stakeholders in the community, including government, non-government and business and a demonstrated ability to work with these stakeholder
