The Community Life Section of Council is focused on strengthening the conditions for community wellbeing through planning for, building on and celebrating the strengths, assets and opportunities of the people and places of Campbelltown. We comprise a Social Planning and Partnerships Team, a Place and Projects Team, and a Community Events and Activation Team.

About the role

We now have an opportunity for a Senior Place and Projects Officer to work to join our team in a busy and exciting time for the future direction of the council. This position will be focused on the development, commissioning and delivery of place projects and programs across the Campbelltown LGA.

Responsibilities may include:

• Provide expert advice on place based projects and programs in new and existing communities
• Lead and support the preparation of bids for funding and resourcing from a variety of sources in relation to community and neighbourhood initiatives
• Undertake research and analysis to identify and report on current emerging social, political, economic and environmental issues in specific communities
• Develop cross functional strategies to integrate place based initiatives within Council’s broader corporate and strategic land use planning frameworks, including Integrated Planning and Reporting

The successful candidate will display the following key skills and attributes:
• Relevant tertiary qualifications
• Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in place based principles and practices
• Sound understanding and commitment to contemporary community development in a place based context
• Experience in planning, developing and implementing community projects
• Time management skills and ability to organise work effectively to deliver timely and quality outcomes
• Experience in preparing reports, presentations and other media for senior staff, team members and external organisations.
