About the role

About the Role

Family Worker, Safer Pathways for Males, funded under the NSW Justice Department is a full time fixed term position (for 12 months commencing January 2018, with possibility of an extension for a further 18 months) based in RACR Office at Deakin, ACT with a requirement to undertake travel as required to far south coast, Queanbeyan and Goulburn.

Reporting to the Regional Coordinator, the role of Family Worker is to provide support and advocacy to men who have experienced or are experiencing family and domestic violence, by providing client case management through assessment of needs, risk assessment, referrals, counselling access and support, court support, advocacy and representation at Safety Action Meetings.

To be successful in this role, you are required to possess an appropriate tertiary qualification in social work or other related discipline and/ or relevant experience, excellent observational, advocacy, negotiation, telephone communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to engage and interact sensitively with a diverse range of people, particularly men, young people and people who have experienced family and domestic violence. Demonstrated experience in case management, case facilitation and coordination, knowledge of local services available to men, children and their families who have experienced family and domestic violence as well as demonstrated networking and relationship building skills are also required. An understanding of the NSW criminal justice system and AVO’s will be an advantage.

Salary & Benefits

The salary on offer is in the range of $66,825.72 to $68,862.56 plus superannuation for full time and PBI benefits. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), RACR employees also receive tax-effective salary packaging opportunities, thus significantly increasing the value of your take-home pay.
According to the RACR Enterprise Agreement, the successful candidate will have access to generous leave provisions, annual leave loading, and special paid leave during annual holiday shutdown period and flexible working arrangements.
