About the role

 

The Behaviour Support Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive advice and support to children and adults with a disability, their families and their support networks through a positive behaviour support approach.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide and deliver specialist behaviour support services 
  • Conduct behavioural assessments
  • Provide advice and support regarding the implementation of behaviour support plans, person-centred practice and a customer service approach
  • Train and supports staff to develop and implement positive behaviour support strategies
  • Work with the community and stakeholders to identify and access appropriate health resources for customers and their families


You will need to demonstrate:

  • Relevant qualifications in occupational therapy, psychology, social work or other health profession
  • Current registration/professional membership
  • Experience in professional/clinical supervision and practice development
  • Specialist skills and experience in positive behaviour support including assessment and development of comprehensive plans that aim to reduce and manage behaviours of concer
  • Experience in training, coaching and mentoring in the delivery of services
