About the organisation
Organisation Name : Engineers without Borders Australia
Engineering and technology are fundamental to a life of opportunity, free from poverty. They underpin resilient, sustainable communities through the provision of access to clean water, sanitation, renewable energy, shelter, communications, education and health care. The global gap in access to engineering and technology is very significant and it prevents individuals and communities from meeting their development needs and reaching their potential.
Engineers Without Borders Australia (EWB) is addressing this gap by connecting, educating and empowering people through humanitarian engineering – a community-centred approach to engineering design and practice. We are a member-based, non-profit organisation with a national membership across our Chapters and a National office based in Melbourne. We predominantly work with local communities and the engineering sector in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. Read more at www.ewb.org.au.
The EWB community includes 23 staff members, a plethora of highly engaged office volunteers, approximately 30 long-term international field volunteers annually, and around 1,500 active local volunteers across Australia.
