Organisation Name : The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Foundation was founded in 1989 to raise funds for and on behalf of hospital.

The RCH Foundation is a legally separate organisation and works closely with the RCH. The core purpose of the RCH Foundation is to raise philanthropic funds that contributes to resources for the RCH in its mission to be a world class paediatric hospital, providing excellent:

  • Care and treatment of children requiring medical treatment
  • Research into curative or preventative medicine
  • Acquisition and development of the best medical talent, whether from Australia or overseas

The people of Victoria love the RCH and feel a great ownership, clearly demonstrated through ongoing and generous giving to the Foundation, including fundraising by RCH Auxiliaries in their community and appeals such as the Good Friday Appeal. The RCH Foundation takes its role seriously as custodian of these donated funds, for and on behalf of all donors and the future needs of the RCH.

About the role

The RCH Foundation is seeking a number of Welcome Desk Volunteers to oversee the daily operations of the front desk whilst ensure a welcoming environment for visitors.

If you are experienced in administration and have a passion for supporting fundraisers, children and their families at one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals, then this could be a great opportunity.

The RCH Foundation is dedicated to improving the future of children’s health by raising funds to support world leading healthcare at the hospital. Over the years, we have supported thousands of innovations that have vastly improved health outcomes for children across Australia and the world.

The Welcome Desk Volunteer will support the RCH Foundation in its mission by ensuring the smooth operation of the RCH Foundation front desk. The role will be responsible for greeting guests, assisting with answering incoming calls, mail distribution, event and fundraising support along with other ad hoc duties. The successful applicant will enjoy engaging with a diverse range of people while supporting the RCH Foundation. They will have excellent customer service skills and the ability to create a welcoming environment, particularly for all donors.

This role is a volunteer position and would be suited to those looking to expand on their administrative skills or who have retired and wish to give something back to the community.

The role will be shared between a number of other candidates and we ask for a commitment of at least one half-day shift per week for six months.
