About the role: 

The Behaviour Support Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive advice and support to children and adults with a disability, their families and their support networks through a positive behaviour support approach.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide and deliver specialist behaviour support services 
  • Conduct functional behavioural assessments
  • Provide advice and support regarding the implementation of positive behaviour support plans, person-centred practice and a customer service approach
  • Train and supports staff to develop and implement positive behaviour support strategies
  • Work with the community and stakeholders to identify and access appropriate health resources for customers and their families


You will need to demonstrate:

  • Full registration with AHPRA and eligible to provide Medicare services
  • Experience in the disability sector
  • Demonstrated experience & sound knowledge working with people with complex needs, including challenging behaviour, mental ill health and trauma
  • Experience in the assessment, design and delivery of positive behaviour support
  • Experience in managing a caseload with tight deadlines. Ability to prioritise caseload in a flexible manner according to client need
  • High level of communication and consultation skills
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Understanding of person centred thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with a range of agencies to negotiate and achieve positive client outcomes
  • Current driver’s licence


Desired:

  • Experience working within NDIS
