The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. We are currently seeking a National Manager, Events & Community Fundraising to join our growing team.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Strategy and Philanthropy and working with a dedicated and passionate team, this pivotal role will manage the strategy, design and delivery of The Smith Family’s national events and community fundraising, including associated digital platforms. In this vibrant and diverse role, you will build engagement with donors, partners and supporters to generate income in line with strategy and targets, contributing to The Smith Family’s vision.

 

A day in the life of a National Manager, Events & Community Fundraising might look like this, but every day can be different. Primarily, you will be responsible for:

     •Shaping our strategy for events and community fundraising, and driving the delivery of this strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders

     •Managing the fundraising platforms for major events and community fundraising, including digital and online events-based fundraising mechanisms.

     •Leading a team of events managers and collaborating with cross-organisational teams in the delivery of events and community fundraising nationally

     •Managing income and expenditure budgets for all nationally run events

     •Ensuring a streamlined briefing and debriefing process and strong stakeholder management is in place for all events.

 

It takes a special kind of person to be our National Manager, Events & Community Fundraising. Our successful candidate will bring:

     • A tertiary qualification in a related field

     • Solid and proven event management experience in a corporate and/or not-for-profit environment

     • Experience in events-based and community fundraising • Excellent skills in stakeholder management and influencing

     • Strong leadership capabilities and a proven ability to lead an events team

     • Experience with digital fundraising strategy and platforms

     • Successful contract negotiation experience

     • Flexibility to travel to manage events nationally
