The Organisation Royal Far West is a unique, innovative non-government organisation based in Manly that provides specialist health, education and disability services to children and families from rural and remote Australia. We have a large and dynamic multi-disciplinary health team that works onsite in Manly, via technology and in community to improve outcomes for children with developmental concerns. Located directly across from Manly Beach, we are currently building a new, integrated Centre for Child Health and Learning, which we are due to move into in 2018, along with our dedicated Department of Education school.

About the role

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Service Delivery, this key leadership position is responsible for the management and direction of our growing Psychology Team. This team is a critical part of our multi-disciplinary service, which includes medical and allied health staff, and together provides much needed services to some of the most vulnerable and remote communities in Australia.

As Psychology Team Leader, you will lead a team of more than 8 clinical and registered psychologists to deliver high quality, integrated, client centred services that are evidence-based and deliver best outcomes for children and families, in the context of a multi-disciplinary model. In this role, you will champion a developmental approach that is trauma-informed, child and family centred and strengths-based, working together with our Developmental Paediatricians, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Speech Pathologists and others. You will promote the safe and effective use of telecare and community outreach as important parts of our service model.

To support you in this role, you will have access to external supervision, as well as generous professional development opportunities, both clinical and non-clinical. You will have opportunities to work out in rural and remote communities, and develop new service models to improve access and outcomes for rural and remote children and families.

The position is full time and based in Manly. We will consider part-time (minimum 32 hours) for exceptional candidates. Royal Far West offers flexible working arrangements, and you’ll find our culture dynamic, supportive and rewarding.

To be successful, you will need to meet the following criteria:

Essential
• Accredited undergraduate degree in Psychology, APHRA registered and unrestricted general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA);
• Approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia;
• A minimum 7 years’ (FTE) paediatric clinical experience working with children and young people with complex developmental difficulties;
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead, inspire, support and manage a team of clinicians;
• Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team of professionals to deliver a high standard of care;
• Driven, motivated, resilient and self-reliant;
• High level organisational skills including an ability to undertake a range of diverse tasks and manage competing deadlines;
• Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting;
• Ability to competently use Microsoft Office programs.

Desirable
• Accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA), and full endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology;
• Demonstrated experience in developing new service models and/or growing services;
• Medicare registration and experience;
• Experience delivering services via telecare (telehealth);
• An understanding of trauma informed practice and delivering trauma informed services.

Applicants with Clinical Psychology qualifications will have a strong advantage.
