Strategic Activities: Build awareness and increase understanding of autism through media activity to promote facts and dispel myths, World Autism Awareness Day, provision of information and resources. Advocate for positive change through quality, evidence based advice to governments and other organisations on critical issues for autistic people including early identification and assessment, NDIS, education, employment, mental health, women & girls. Community engagement and capacity building through consultation with the autism community, improving knowledge, skills and capability of individuals and private, public and social organisations.

About the role

Amaze is recruiting for an Autism Information Advisor. The Autism Information Advisor Team process applications to give children with Autism access to the Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) package as well as staff the Amaze Information Support Line.

The Role
The Autism Information Advisor assists people on the autism spectrum, their families and supporters to access information, resources and provide referrals in relation to autism.

The Autism Information Advisor is a member of the Autism Information Team that has responsibility for the creation and maintenance of information resources at Amaze.

The role is also responsible for assisting Victorian families to access general information and referrals through the Autism Information Support Line via telephone and email, creating and CRM records and available services in the community.

Key Responsibilities
• Respond to incoming requests from people on the spectrum, families/carers and professionals via the Amaze Autism Information telephone Line, web/email, IM and post enquiries and in person
• Provide access to evidence-based information, resources, and referral options for people accessing the Information and Referral Service
• Assist in the development of high-quality, evidence-based autism resources in line with team and organisational priorities
• Facilitate the development and rollout of autism specific materials including NDIS information, general collateral (Amaze/NDIS), reference materials, training documents and correspondence

Location
The Amaze office is located in Carlton, Victoria.

Qualifications
• Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable, but other experiences will be recognized (teaching or ECEI experience will be highly regarded)

Knowledge
• Comprehensive understanding of the disability sector and awareness of available services in Victoria is desirable
• Knowledge of Autism and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is desirable

Experience
• Experience in providing solution focused information and referrals to a wide range of stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience in use of technology and databases (experience with Salesforce an advantage)
• Experience in a Not-For-Profit environment would be highly regarded

Competencies
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise high transactional workload
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team
• Ability to manage own workflow to SLA’s & KPI’s targets and benchmarks, prioritise tasks, while working as part of a close team
• Good computer skills and experience with a range of computer applications and databases, including Microsoft Office suite and CRM’s
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to utilise them in communicating effectively with a variety of stakeholders
• Be able to demonstrate professional attributes such as being proactive, accountable, collaborative and willing to provide a quality service offering whilst adhering to Amaze’s Principle’s.

Desirable Attributes
• Well-developed, current knowledge and understanding of autism
• Operational understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and ECEI/ECIS partners
• A commitment to working with people with disability and supporting them to make their own choices and help them achieve their goals
• Understanding and respect evidence-based strategies
• Ability and experience in producing various collateral for a variety of audiences

Other
• National Police Check is required
• Working with Children check required
• Current Victorian driver’s license is desirable
