About the organisation

Organisation Name : Our Watch
Our Watch is a national, independent not for profit organisation established in 2013 to drive nationwide change in the culture, behaviours and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children. Our vision is an Australia where women and their children live free from all forms of violence. Our mandate is to stop violence before it happens, and our purpose is to provide national leadership to prevent all forms of violence against women and their children. Our work is based on sound research and strong and diverse partnerships. This role will report to a Board of Non-Executive Directors.

About the role

About you
Coming from the corporate, not-for-profit or government sector, you must demonstrate sound organisational governance and leadership skills, commercial acumen, and an ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders to secure financial and in-kind support. You will be experienced in developing and managing mutually beneficial partnerships with government and research bodies, and highly competent as an advocate and media spokesperson. You will have a growth mindset and enjoy the challenge of managing a multi-disciplinary team of research, policy and program experts, as well as marketing, communications and media teams to drive lasting positive societal change.

Why work with us
This is an opportunity to work with a talented and committed Board of Directors and Senior Leadership group – supported by many high profile passionate ambassadors – to make a profound difference to Australia’s future. Our Watch has a strong evidence-based culture and as leader your role is to continue to monitor and nurture this culture, whilst also building external partnership opportunities that keep Our Watch at the forefront of issues relating to the drivers of violence against women and their children. Your focus will be to build on the success of the past five years and drive the next stage of growth for the organisation – identifying and developing additional funding sources to enable effective research and prevention initiatives and education programs.

Our workplace culture is characterised by mutual support, intellectual curiosity, rigour, and continuous learning. We are offering a competitive salary package and 5 weeks annual leave. The role is Melbourne based with regular interstate travel.

Our Watch recognises and values diversity amongst its staff and strongly encourages suitably qualified people from all cultural backgrounds, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and/or with lived experience of disability, to apply.
