The Advancement Unit is responsible for providing leadership and management of philanthropy on behalf of UTS. It is also responsible for developing and delivering a range of engagement opportunities for its growing alumni network of more than 200,000 graduates, and providing support to faculties.

The Communications Officer is responsible for the implementation of the Unit’s internal and external communication plans. In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of the Unit’s communications strategy, and provide support in engagement with key stakeholders including alumni, donors and staff within faculties. Additionally, you will play an active role in the development of the Unit’s print, digital and fundraising communications and lead the social media communications strategy.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, main responsibilities of the role will include, but not limited to:

• Manage communications and marketing enquiries from across the university
• Partner with the Communications Manager to develop innovative, engaging and best practice internal and external communications
• Support the management and implementation of the unit’s communication activities
• Manage website updates, social media campaigns and develop creative communications campaigns with the aim of engaging the alumni community
• Partner with UTS events staff and designers to create promotional materials for a range of events
• Act as a representative of the Advancement Unit when engaging external stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Have a demonstrated ability to write targeted, strategic communication pieces for both print and online media
• Have a proven track record of stakeholder management experience and an ability to effectively partner with people at all levels within an organisation
• An understanding of and familiarity with social media marketing and web applications
• Demonstrate experience in the development of material for websites and other promotional media
• Hold a degree in marketing, communication, journalism or similar
• Be proactive, a self-starter and manage well in an exciting and challenging environment

Base Salary Range: $78,433 – $84,923 pa (HEW 6)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This position is full time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.

• Project management skills, including the ability to initiate projects, deliver on objectives within budgets and to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to write targeted, strategic communication for print and online media. Excellent English skills are required in this role. Please include examples or portfolio of written work where available.
• Experience in delivering publications, both print and online, including invitations and marketing collateral to support Advancement activities, and social media experience
