About the organisation
Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) operates within the context that Aboriginal children continue to be significantly overrepresented in the protection and care system within Victoria. VACCA considers that it has the responsibility and the opportunity to promote, advocate for and achieve positive changes in the lives of Aboriginal children, their families and the broader Aboriginal community.
About the role
This role requires a senior case manager / case manager to manage a case load of vulnerable Aboriginal mothers where significant concerns about the wellbeing of the mother and their unborn child have been identified. In many cases, the mother may have spent time in out of home care and have had a range of contacts with the child protection system. In addition to managing a case load the worker with provide a consult and educative service to team members to support culturally appropriate responses to Aboriginal families.
The position will work closely with Family Life and VACCA colleagues to deliver the service to families. While based in Frankston, the worker will spend time in all offices across the Bayside Peninsula area to engage and support families and team members
