ACFID has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Policy and Advocacy to join a dynamic organisation and a highly skilled team. As a successful leader of ACFID’s Policy and Advocacy Team you will achieve a strong policy and enabling environment for international development assistance and humanitarian action in Australia. This includes working with the team to engage key stakeholders such as ACFID’s members, the media, the Australian Government, issue-specific Coalitions, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Parliament; to communicate ACFID’s positions to the Australian Government and the Australian public; to increase support for international development and humanitarian assistance; and to contribute to Australia’s global leadership in sustainable development and humanitarian action through its policies, actions and partnerships. The successful applicant will come into a high performing team after incumbent Director leaves after nearly 7 years with ACFID.

The role offers significant leadership, management, representational and strategy development responsibilities and you will have demonstrated experience and ability in those areas. You will also possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills; political nous; a proven context analysis ability; and experience in dynamic and past-faced environments.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, you will also be part of the ACFID management team which sets strategic priorities and manages the implementation of the organisational goals under ACFID’s Strategic Plan.

The role holder should expect to undertake moderate amounts of inter-state travel in the regular course of their duties, up to 30 days per annum. International travel opportunities are limited. Some out of hours duties will be required in the normal work of the role-holder.

ACFID is an equal opportunity employer and we encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

ACFID employees enjoy a flexible work environment and we will consider specific flexibility requirements with the successful candidate.

Applications will close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 28 March.
