About the organisation

Organisation Name : National Centre for Childhood Grief (via People for Purpose)
The National Centre for Childhood Grief (NCCG) was established over 22 years ago to develop and maintain a centre of Clinical Excellence to ensure that all bereaved children in NSW and eventually Australia, have access to appropriate support as they grieve, and to provide training and support for those who care for them. The NCCG’s vision is a community which accepts there is no right or wrong way to grieve, especially for children and that living with grief is a normal and ongoing process which, with compassionate support, children can accommodate into their lives as they grow towards adulthood.

About the role

Improve the lives of children experiencing grief
• Contribute to social impact via this fundraising opportunity
• Use your strong grant management skills

Grief affects everyone, but 1 in 20 Australian children will experience the death of a parent before they reach the age of 18. For over 21 years, the National Centre for Childhood Grief (NCCG) has provided loving support in a safe place where children grieving a death can share their experience as they learn to live with its impact on their lives. The NCCG also provides education and training for individuals, schools and other organisations handling the grief of children and young people. The NCCG’s unique expertise enables them to support bereaved children and young people using an internationally recognised therapeutic model.

The NCCG’s vision is a community which accepts there is no right or wrong way to grieve, especially for children and that living with grief is a normal and ongoing process which, with compassionate support, children can accommodate into their lives as they grow towards adulthood.

The opportunity
This is an opportunity for an individual with broad fundraising and grant management experience to work together with the Director of Clinical Services, Board and team to leverage opportunities to grow income/fundraising streams. You will have extensive experience in writing proposals and grants with particular emphasis on trusts and foundation; researching and reporting on grant-funded projects. You will also utilise your business development expertise to deliver a fundraising strategy and you will be as comfortable with research and due diligence as you are with cultivating new and existing relationships to make ‘the ask’. You will be commercial in your approach and have an understanding of the critical nature of impact measurement, and the ability to create a framework to ensure data and outcomes are used effectively to support fundraising efforts. This will require a proven ability to engage with a range of stakeholders including the high net worth community, corporates, existing donors, partners and government.

You will have a high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly, combined with the ability to understand the needs of both the funding needs of the NCCG and donors. You will demonstrate a capacity for creative strategic thinking in your approach to building pipelines and securing funding. You will have a sound knowledge of technology, in particular social media and Salesforce. An understanding of the not-for-profit landscape and philanthropic foundations and trust structures is advantageous. Preparedness to understand the work undertaken by NCCG is essential.

This role is part time and provides the opportunity to work from home, The Centre or the CBD. It may require some local travel and after-hours networking opportunities.
