About the role
At Save the Children, we have an ambitious strategy to create positive change for children and we’re looking for an equally ambitious leader to grow our Bequest portfolio. You will make a significant impact on the future of the organisation by taking responsibility for driving strategy and working in a hands-on capacity to build and implement a sector-leading bequest marketing and income function. As part of a highly capable and highly motivated Philanthropy team, you will strive to challenge the bequest team and broader organisation to embrace new approaches and new opportunities for bequest growth.
Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.
We’re ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children’s rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there’s a disaster – like an earthquake , drought or conflict – we are there on the ground.
Where you come in:
In this permanent, full-time role based in our Head Office in Carlton, you will lead the development and implementation of a strategy to increase income from bequests, both overseeing activity and working in a hands-on capacity. You will be part of our Philanthropy team and report to the Head of Philanthropy.
You will make an impact by:
- Creating and being actively involved in implementing a bequest marketing strategy to optimise future income growth
- Being accountable for the performance and delivery of major initiatives and activities
- Managing and cultivating relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Working with departmental colleagues and influencing across all levels to ensure bequests are incorporated across fundraising strategies
- Leading and developing a high calibre bequest team
If we could compose the perfect you…
You’re an ambitious, strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into operational plans, but also the willingness to drop down into the detail and ‘do the doing’. You’re self-motivated and flexible with an infectious energy and ability to inspire others. You’re a team player. You love a challenge, you’re a problem-solver and perhaps most importantly, you have a strong commitment to Save the Children’s vision and values.
This role requires:
- Extensive experience of direct marketing, ideally in a bequest marketing context
- Proven ability to grow a customer or supporter base through sound marketing strategy
- Proven experience of using consumer insight at the heart of strategy, proposition, and journey development
- Proven track record in campaign planning and management with excellent supporter care and stewardship skills
- Experience of managing a P&L, with substantial financial targets and KPIs
- Knowledge and experience of bequest income management and bequest case administration
Working at Save the Children is more than just a job.
It’s the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same. We offer a competitive salary including generous salary packaging benefits, a friendly and flexible work environment, and great career opportunities – both locally and internationally.
