The mission of this small Australian non-profit company is to provide free access to computer technology for the many millions of people worldwide who are blind or vision impaired.

In its 12-year life, the ground-breaking technology created by the founders has been adopted by Google, Microsoft and Adobe and translated into 43+ languages in over 120 countries.

But that is just the auspicious beginning.

Now, this organisation needs to step up its business drive to the next level. It’s time to forge and cement the strong global partnerships it will need to further develop, market and service these lifechanging products to reach many more people around the globe.

With a supportive, strategic Board of Governance and one of the two initial founders active in the business (but enmeshed by its technology), there is a unique opening for a dynamic, visionary and hands-on CEO to ‘hit the ground running’, evaluate ‘what is’, identify opportunities, develop a prioritised action plan and approach future funding sources in Australia and internationally. You need to be excited by technology and be able to follow its development, but you don’t need to be an expert in software development: the company already has its world-class specialists!

Working collaboratively with the Executive Director & Board, you’ll focus on creating the mid and long term funding streams that enable this unique business to consistently deliver on its mission – now and into the future.

As you implement your strategic plan, you’ll decide what products should go to market and how, drive business development, branding and marketing and work on relationship building – especially with global technology pace setters. As one of the faces of this amazing non-profit company, you’ll grasp inventive opportunities to promote and champion its brands and products at every opportunity.

To succeed in this role, you will need:
• to be roundly experienced as a business leader – ideally although not essentially in the software or technical industries
• a record of success that has taken you to the highest corporate levels in Australia and perhaps overseas
• to be urban and articulate, well presented, impressively connected and a gifted public speaker
• to bring examples of how you have developed sustainable new income streams
• to have an exemplary record in financial and budget management, brand promotion & marketing, contracts and negotiations.
• to understand and endorse non-profit principles and contemporary practice.
• to be hands-on, can-do, respectful & happy to work closely with others in a small team

But above all of your capabilities as a leader, proven CEO and strategic business development specialist you need passion. You must bring a passionate belief that this job was ‘made’ for you, and that – in your hands – this product will change the world!
