About the role
Development Director
Jewish Museum of Australia
We are currently seeking to fill a newly defined position of Development Director, who will lead the development and implementation of our strategic fundraising program, with a specific focus on major gifts. We are seeking to significantly increase our revenue from major gifts, build our donor pipeline, and develop strong, lasting relationships with our major donors, including professionals working in philanthropic trusts and foundations. We are also looking to engage Board members and staff from across the organisation more deeply in donor relations. In addition to the major gift program, the Development Director is also responsible for developing and securing corporate sponsorship, developing and delivering an annual program of direct mail appeals and managing the Development team. The Development Director reports to the CEO and is part of a dynamic, high performing leadership team.
The successful candidate for this position will have a minimum of five years experience in a senior fundraising position with a proven track record of building relationships with major donors, personally securing major gifts and increasing fundraising revenue in a sustainable manner. Ideally, they will have experience working in an arts/cultural, education or Jewish community organisation, or a strong interest in/knowledge of these sectors. They will have outstanding communication skills and the ability to confidently articulate a case for support for the arts in a crowded marketplace of worthy charitable causes. They will possess enthusiasm, a positive attitude and an understanding of the constraints of working in a small organisation, and will be highly motivated, results-oriented and have a strong sense of integrity and personal responsibility.
