Eastern Domestic Violence Services (EDVOS) is a not-for-profit specialist family violence service in Melbourne’s Eastern Metropolitan Region. We provide an integrated range of support and services to empower women and children who are responding to family violence. We operate within a human rights framework and our focus is on supporting the safety of women and children and the accountability of perpetrators.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader whose values strongly resonate with those of our organisation to join our team as General Manager Services (GMS). The General Manager Services is a key leadership position that works to drive enhanced service delivery at strategic and operational levels to enable EDVOS to achieve its goals and build a strong sustainable organisation. The GMS is responsible for service provision to women and children, effective working relationships with partnership organisations and for the programs meeting all their service and financial outcomes. The GMS reports to the Executive Director and works closely with other members of the Executive Management Team and also the Senior Management Team to deliver on organisational objectives, including thorough engagement and collaborative effort with employees at all levels in the organisation and being a role model for effective and positive leadership which is ethical, innovative and results driven.

In this key leadership position, you will contribute to the strategic direction by being actively involved in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans, and their conversion into operational key deliverables that meet the needs of current and future clients. You will be expected to apply knowledge of the family violence sector and the government initiatives to advance the organisation’s strategic goals and ensure legislative compliance in relation to all aspects of service delivery. As an inspirational leader, you will drive the performance of the organisation against EDVOS’s Strategic Priorities and its associated programs, and position EDVOS service delivery at the leading edge ensuring absolute focus and commitment to quality.

In conjunction with the Executive Team and HR Manager, you will undertake workforce planning. You will manage, support and provide guidance and leadership to staff within the Services division and assist them in the development of individual workplans and undertake regular, formal supervision and annual performance reviews with staff that promotes wellbeing, reflective practice and professional development opportunities. As a hands on leader, you will also manage the recruitment, selection and onboarding of Services staff in consultation with the HR Manager, and identify any areas of priority and improvement for the Services division. You will lead, review and measure operational performance through establishment of relevant and robust service delivery KPIs.

Essential to your success

As a strategic thinker and strong communicator you will have outstanding people skills coupled with strong problem solving skills and decision making ability with experience behind you to effectively lead and manage a team of committed staff. Significant experience, skills and knowledge in developing a strong and positive organisational culture and a record of achievements in advocacy service to assist in the achievement of organisational strategic plans is essential to this role.

EDVOS hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9am until 8pm and Saturday from 9am until 5pm. This position would be expected to be available to work on a rotating roster across those hours of operation.
