About the organisation
About the role
Down Syndrome Queensland is a not for profit organisation formed in 1976 headquartered in Stafford, Brisbane. The mission of Down Syndrome Queensland (DSQ) is to support, advocate for and empower the Down Syndrome Community in Queensland. Our organisation and our community face significant challenges with the introduction of the NDIS changing how people are currently supported and the level of support they receive. We are also focusing on growing support for our regional members and assisting everyone across a range of areas including education, health, employment and self-advocacy.
Due to one Board member moving interstate and to make sure DSQ is positioned for growth we are seeking to immediately appoint two new voluntary Board members to join our experienced Board and share our mission to support the Down Syndrome community in Queensland.
The new Board members could come from a range of backgrounds and prior Board experience would be helpful but not essential. To ensure we provide strong regional support we are interested in speaking to potential candidates outside of Brisbane, including regional Queensland areas as well as from Brisbane.
So if you have suitable experience and would like to make a positive difference to the lives of those with Down Syndrome, please apply by sending your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your motivation for applying for the role and the skills and personal attributes you would bring to the Board to David Fuller, the Chair of DSQ on board@dsaq.org.au. Applications will close June 30.
