About the organisation

Organisation Name : BIrth for Humankind

Established in 2014, Birth for Humankind is a not-for-profit charity organisation that provides support and education for women experiencing financial and social hardship through their pregnancy and birth.

With a dedicated core team of seven part-time employees, 40 volunteer doulas, a committed and ‘hands-on’ board, as well as a growing community of people passionate about promoting better birth outcomes and supporting women in need.

Our vision is that every mother has the care and support needed to make empowered choices and to have the best birth and early parenting experience possible for herself, her baby and family. Our mission is to foster health families and communities by providing mother centred support, education and holistic care throughout pregnancy, birth and after the baby comes – especially for those who are most vulnerable to social isolation or lack of support.

We do this through offering free one-to-one doula support, education programs and information, networking and referrals to other support services.

Every member of our core team is dedicated, passionate, creative, and visionary. Our team culture is based on respect, collaboration, support and celebration.

We welcome initiative, drive and independence – whilst working in a collaborative team approach. For more info about us you can visit our website at: www.birthforhumankind.org
