About the organisation
About the role
• Use your strategic and operational skills
• Leverage your passion and experience in early childhood development
• Build and nurture a strong, internal team culture
Each year in Australia, 65,000 five-year-olds – or one in five – start school missing out on some of the things they really need early in their lives in order to thrive. Opportunity Child’s (OC) bold goal is to dramatically change this. Opportunity Child works locally and acts nationally to bring people, communities and organisations together as part of a cross-sectoral learning network that helps the system do things differently to support children.
Opportunity Child takes a collective impact approach and partners with communities across Australia where many children are developmentally vulnerable. In these urban, regional, rural and remote communities, practice and learning is supported and knowledge is built and shared. Simultaneously, Opportunity Child partners with national organisations who are leaders in place-based research, service delivery and practice in early childhood, and catalytic philanthropy. Collectively communities and partners work to use their knowledge to influence policy and service system reform.
The organisation is seeking a General Manager Finance and Operations to work closely with the CEO to guide and execute the organisation’s overarching strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring alignment of operations to strategy and for building sustainability into the organisation through capital raising, strategic financial and human resource management. Building and nurturing a strong internal OC team culture as well as a deep and broad cross-sector external network is a key requirement of this position, and will underpin all GM activity.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced senior executive / general manager with proven ability in co-ordinating activities around strategic planning, performance assessment and monitoring, risk management as well as deep experience building and nurturing strong internal team cultures. You will also be experienced in working closely with boards and governance, operational management (including financial management) and capital raising. Previous experience in not for profit, philanthropic or collective impact organisations would be favourably considered.
