About the role

Foodbank is Australia’s largest food rescue organisation, accounting for over 70% of food rescued in Australia.  Foodbank sources donated food from farmers, processors, manufacturers, markets and retailers, most of which would otherwise go to landfill as waste.

In Queensland, through the Foodbank Queensland (FBQ) warehouse and distribution facility at Morningside, food is redistributed directly through over 250 community-based welfare agencies feeding over 188,000 disadvantaged Queenslanders each month, over 35% of whom are children. FBQ provides food for over 200 school breakfast programs. FBQ rescues over 12 million kilos of food which is the equivalent of nearly 22 million meals with an estimated retail value of more than $80m.

Foodbank’s vision is for a Queensland without hunger delivered through a mission to deliver the most food, to the most Queenslanders in need, in the most efficient and effective ways.

Reporting to the FBQ CEO, the Head of Fundraising will take overall responsibility for managing all aspects of FBQ’s fundraising activities in line with FBQ’s agreed Strategic Plan.  Key accountabilities will include:

Oversight of all aspects of fundraising for the organisation.

Develop and implement compliant strategies to exceed donation targets from FBQ’s nominated fundraising target groups

Collaboratively works with the FBQ, FBA & interstate Foodbank Fundraising and Marketing teams to ensure messaging is consistent

Philanthropists, Foundations and High Net Worth individuals

Corporates

General Public

Collaboratively works with the FBQ, FBA & interstate Foodbank Fundraising and Marketing teams to ensure messaging is consistent

Develop a grant writing strategy to fit with the FBQ strategic plan and secure new funds for the organisation.

Prepare grant applications and fundraising proposals to key target organisations or individuals.

Timely and accurate reporting, including Board reporting

Prepare budgets and forecasts for fundraising activities

To be successful you will connect deeply with the ethos and purpose of Foodbank Queensland’s mission, You will have significant demonstrated experience leading fundraising in corporate and philanthropic settings, be able to represent the organisation externally at the highest levels and be able to advise and lead the organisation to achieve it’s strategic fundraising goals.  A collaborative and highly engaging, creative thinker you will enjoy being part of a close knit team and engaging with a deeply committed CEO and active board of directors.
