About the Role
The Development Manager is responsible for generating revenue for Circus Oz through major gifts and individual giving, along with grant funding through trusts and foundations and other bodies within a values-based framework. The role provides support to the Director of Social Enterprise in servicing corporate partners, with a key focus on developing strong relationships with donors and funding bodies and creating a positive experience between these key stakeholders, the Circus Oz Executive and Board.
The successful candidate will inspire support for Circus Oz; they will be goal-oriented and have strong interpersonal skills, a proven track record in developing successful relationships and demonstrable experience in creating and delivering effective individual giving campaigns along with grant writing. With an eye for detail, strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in record-keeping, the Development Manager will have a clear ability to take initiative while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
The position is currently full-time. Circus Oz is open to discussing flexible work arrangements with suitably qualified candidates.
About the Organisation
In 2018 Circus Oz celebrate four extraordinary decades of successfully creating shows, connecting with audiences and touring around Australia and the world to critical acclaim. Founded in 1978, Circus Oz is credited with revitalising a traditional art form through a live music, all-human ensemble, creative collaboration of some of Australia’s most talented artists in physical theatre, circus, dance, music, and comedy. The company is the only circus in Australia’s Major Performing Arts Group of 28 companies and has toured to 28 countries on five continents, performing to over four million people, receiving critical acclaim at home and abroad. In 2013 Circus Oz was recognised with the Governor of Victoria Export Award, reflecting its long history of international touring.
With a strong focus on social justice and a good time for all, Circus Oz is a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity. Alongside its annual international activities and tours of Australian capital cities, regional centres and remote communities, Circus Oz also runs a range of public classes, community workshops and activities for corporate organisations, such as its High Flying Teams program, as well as a number of art form development programs, including its award winning BLAKflip training program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander circus artists, all underpinned by our corporate and private partnerships. In 2014, with the assistance of the Victorian Government, Circus Oz moved into its first ever purpose-built home, located in Collingwood.
