About the organisation

Organisation Name : Cape York Partnership

The Cape York Partnership (CYP) is one of Australia’s leading Indigenous not for profit organisations. It champions and delivers opportunities and real change to the people of Cape York and is a major influencer on national policy. The Cape York Agenda is CYP’s guiding light; the end goal expressed as ‘seeking to ensure that Cape York people have the capabilities to choose a life that they have reason to value’. With an established financial base in place, as well as a set of initiatives and programs that range from education, employment, leadership and empowerment, language and culture, welfare and land reform, recognition and reconciliation, CYP thrives and is on the path to fulfilling its agenda. CYP’s profile and success has earned them the support of individuals and the wider community. They have a strong, high profile board who are also instrumental in attracting funds to the organisation.

About the role

  • Leadership role in a highly respected Indigenous NFP
  • Grow existing philanthropic giving
  • High profile and engaged board

CYP are now looking for a philanthropy and fundraising professional who can build on and grow the current donor network and develop additional philanthropic revenue streams. This is a real opportunity to create structures and processes to mine existing relationships and forge new ones. The role will report directly to the CEO and work actively with the CYP Board.

Based in either Sydney or Melbourne, the Fundraising and Development Manager will have the flexibility to manage their own time and will travel regularly. This will include trips to Cairns where the CYP Head Office is based, and North Queensland.

This role will suit a self-motivated individual with demonstrated success in building individual donation revenue and programs as well as securing grants or major donations from philanthropic bodies, government, major donors and the corporate sector. You will have the ability to work effectively in a team (albeit remotely), with a friendly, positive, can-do attitude. You will also be a highly motivated self-starter with an ability to prioritise tasks, forward plan, meet deadlines and deliver results. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are also integral to this role.
