About the role
Girl Guides Victoria has been the awarded a two-year contract by the Federal Government Department of Social Services to develop Girl Guide programs in the Outer Western Suburbs of Melbourne.
The primary purpose of the grant is to engage with, and increase awareness in the Indian Community about the Girl Guide movement. A significant portion of the Victorian community in this area comes from an Indian background and the grant is therefore focused on providing women and girls from these communities the opportunity to participate in Girl Guides programs and activities.
The grant anticipates four core outcomes:
- Connect with local organisations and services working within the Indian community as well as consult with key members from the Indian community. Communicate the benefits of the Guiding experience to the community with a view to developing strong connections with Girl Guides Victoria’s networks.
- Recruit 10-12 women from the Indian Community to volunteer with the project and assist the volunteers to actively participate.
- Working with the State Office and local volunteers to provide a successful induction into the organisation.
- Establish 2 new Girl Guide groups (units) with 25-30 girls participating.
This is a part-time role (18.75 hours per week until 30 June 2020) and is a fantastic opportunity to work with the Indian Community to introduce the benefits of Guiding to women and girls alike.
