The Opportunity

The Aboriginal Engagement Officer/s NDIS roles compliment a new initiative for VACCA which will be delivered in partnership with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) whose main purpose is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) across Australia. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Southern Division has established the SDF project aimed at increasing capacity across Southern Victoria’s Aboriginal Communities to support the NDIS transition.

The Aboriginal Engagement Officer(s) will deliver the service across the Southern Region including Inner Gippsland, Outer Gippsland regions, Bayside Peninsula and Southern Metropolitan areas.

To be considered for this role you must demonstrate

  • Demonstrated understanding of historical and contemporary issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australian society.
  • Experience and ability to work with an Aboriginal organisation and communities and a proven ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal people.
  • Demonstrated ability to form strong partnerships, network and build capacity within the Community between agencies, government and local and not for profit organisations.
  • Knowledge of the Disability sector and the of the NDIS or ability to gain knowledge to perform the role
