Catholic Cemeteries & Crematoria (CCC) is a not for profit Catholic organisation that manages five Catholic and general cemeteries within the greater Western Sydney region. Each is charged with the special mission of creating and maintaining sacred burial places and helping families by making a difficult time easier. Established in 1867 as a trust by the Archdiocese of Sydney, CCC is committed to caring for the community of Sydney by supporting families through care and compassion and by offering choices to suit personal needs.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the position of Cemetery Manager – Eastern Region is a newly created role whose purpose is to manage the Eastern Region Cemeteries encompassing Rookwood and North Rocks Cemeteries. Your key responsibilities will be the management of staff, client experience and sales outcomes across multiple product categories, as well as maintenance of computerised cemetery records and bookings. You will have responsibility for front-of-house customer experience, cemetery service experience and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, such as Funeral Directors and clergy. The position has a focus on sales management and leadership of a team that builds strong relationships with key community groups, parishes and funeral directors.

You will bring relevant experience and practice which will enable you to manage projects, people and resources. You are able to manage sensitive negotiations in a highly-charged, and at times, emotional environment and provide a quality, trouble-free experience when under pressure for families and funeral directors. This is a full-time role and is based at Rookwood Cemetery. The role will require you to travel across multiple cemetery sites.

Key Requirements

The Cemetery Manager – Eastern Region will ideally have the following knowledge, qualifications and experience:

  • An understanding of and a commitment to the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Church
  • Excellent interpersonal and relation skills
  • Ability to lead, model and achieve the delivery of superior customer service
  • Commercial business acumen, effective human resources and financial management skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Marketing, Psychology or related field
  • Experience balancing between operational and client obligations
