About the role
Opera Australia’s Philanthropy Department manages an integrated philanthropy and engagement program to maximise individual giving in support of production and access activities. To ensure the Company’s continued success, OA is committed to significantly building on its individual giving activity and income from philanthropy and now seeks a new Director of Philanthropy to drive this change.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and an integral member of the Senior Executive, the Director of Philanthropy will have strategic leadership and management responsibility for the Philanthropy team and all individual giving activity. The Director will focus on and be accountabe for targeted fundraising, including the acquisition and cultivation of new prospective major donors. In collaboration with the CEO, the Director will help to establish a more philanthropic-centric approach across the organisation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate significant leadership experience in the management of philanthropy programs together with a track record of securing major gifts, particularly from high network individuals. Fundamental to success in the role will be a passion and enthusiasm for Opera Australia, its work, aspirations and values.
