Organisation Name : South Australia Council of Community Legal Services (SACCLS)

South Australia Council of Community Legal Services (SACCLS) is the peak body representing Community Legal Centres in South Australia.

Community legal centres are independent, not for profit community based organisations. They provide free or low cost legal assistance and legal education to the public, especially to members of the community that are disadvantaged and unable to access legal assistance.

About the role

The Executive Officer is responsible for the development and delivery of strategic projects and initiatives which support the effective delivery of services in the CLC sector. This includes research into and proposals on the development of best practice approaches, tools and systems. The role will also require the provision of membership services to SACCLS members; and providing broader administrative and support services to SACCLS.

The Executive Officer reports to the SACCLS Executive / Management Committee and works collaboratively with the CLC sector to further the objectives of SACCLS.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • identify, investigate and develop proposals for innovative technological solutions to assist SACCLS members to provide outreach to regional areas
  • ensure consistency of technology across community legal centres to support data sharing and efficiency
  • strengthen the relationship between SACCLS and its members by providing support and development for the sector in SA
  • increase the profile and understanding of the work of community legal centres
  • support community legal centres across SA to provide effective, high quality services to their communities by facilitating training and professional development for staff and volunteers, undertaking projects and initiatives to promote innovation and collaboration
  • undertake specialised training and development for members in relation to the mandatory CLASS database and Data Standards Manual (as required by the Commonwealth AGD)
  • identify and scope back office functions to ensure items such as auditing, accounting, I.T. and data collection are consistent and efficient (a recommendation of the 2016 Ernst & Young review)
  • Management of the SACCLS website to ensure access to consolidated and up to date information about the sector and individual centres is available for both the public and people working within the sector.

 

Selection Criteria:      

Qualifications                        

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, for example, law, social sciences, communications etc. is desirable.

 

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people both verbally and in writing, in particular the ability to produce written reports to assist executive and management decision making processes.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively, cope with a high volumes of work and be receptive to new ideas and changing environments.
  • Interpersonal skills which facilitate interaction and co-operation with relevant groups and individuals and the ability to present information in a meaningful context.
  • Understanding of the role of the Community Legal Sector in providing access to justice.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
