The Wilderness Society is an independent advocacy organisation supported by around 30,000 members. We campaign to protect, promote and restore wilderness and natural processes. Since 1976, we have helped to protect the Franklin River, Fraser Island, Tasmania’s Forests, James Price Point in the Kimberley and advocated for the creation of numerous World Heritage Areas. Today, we’re training a new generation of volunteer campaign leaders with a national leading community organising program, while building support for effective and lasting change through our communications.

About the role

The National Forest Campaigner role will spearhead the creation and implementation of a new national campaign to protect Australia’s forests and reform the native forest logging industry.

The role will implement strategy across national and state forest campaigns – including deforestation and national laws campaigns – working with TWS National Campaign Director and campaign leaders in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales.

The role involves building relationships with key stakeholders, fostering strategic partnerships and participating in government, industry and certification processes in order to maximise forest campaign opportunities.

You will provide advice including plans for implementation for media, lobbying and campaign actions.

Note: This position will require work outside of standard 9-5 business hours.
