About the organisation

Organisation Name : Lively

Lively is a social enterprise that connects generations, creates meaningful employment for young jobseekers and increases the connectedness and inclusion of older people in the community. We train and employ young jobseekers to spend meaningful time with older people, helping them learn how to use technology to connect with friends and family, pursue their interests and access information. We are also in the process of expanding our offerings beyond technology help, to provide a range of additional services that support the wellbeing and independence of older community members. Our vision is to build a community in which supporting older people to live well is as mainstream an employment opportunity for young people as hospitality and retail is today, and in which older people receive the respect, connection and support they need to thrive.

About the role

The Position

As Lively grows and our operations expand, we are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to take on the role of Operations Manager within the organisation. The Operations Manager will oversee the implementation and growth of our technology help service across a number of partner organisations, as well as the establishment and implementation of additional home care services (e.g. social activities, shopping, cooking, basic domestic assistance). The Operations Manager will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and managing new and existing partnerships with home care providers to deliver Lively’s technology help service to home care clients.
  • Implementing and managing technology help programs delivered in libraries and community centres.
  • Implementing and managing the delivery of new services beyond technology help.
  • Managing and maintaining relationships with Lively’s home care provider and community partners, including regular communication with case managers and team leaders to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of services.
  • Ensuring high quality service delivery and customer satisfaction across all services and programs, and proactively identifying and actioning areas for improvement.
  • Developing and maintaining systems, policies and procedures to streamline and continually improve the delivery of Lively services.
  • Overseeing operating expenses and ensuring delivery of programs to budget.
  • Managing program and service finances, including regularly invoicing partners and clients.
  • Actively monitoring risk and regulatory issues across all programs and services, and initiating appropriate risk management systems and responses.
  • Providing other assistance to the CEO as required and as appropriate to the job role.

About You

  • You are excited about building a more positive future for young and older people in our community.
  • You are looking to share your considerable skills and experience in a part-time capacity, perhaps to balance other demands of family, health, work or general life.
  • You love making sure that things run like clockwork, and you’re meticulous about ensuring that all the important details have been covered.
  • You actively look for ways to streamline and optimise existing processes, or to bring in totally new (and better) ones where required.
  • You have experience managing strategic business partnerships, and you understand the importance of strong partner relationships. You are warm and enthusiastic, yet professional and reliable in your dealings with partners.
  • You are an excellent communicator, able to understand and respond to the needs of our partners and clients, and to clearly convey our values, model and vision to those we work with.
  • You are an exceptional project manager, able to manage timelines and ensure that all of our ducks are in a row when they need to be.
  • You are flexible and open to change. You understand that operating in a start-up environment means learning and pivoting on the fly, and you are excited by the challenge of working with us to chart a course towards our long-term vision.
  • You are a fast learner, grasping complex or abstract ideas quickly and discerning their implications for your work. We don’t need to spell it out for you – you’re already one step ahead.
  • You’re highly tech savvy.
  • You’re a quick and efficient worker, able to self-manage and to consistently deliver against goals and priorities.
  • You ideally have at least 5 years of experience in an Operations Management role. We’re looking for somebody who can come in and hit the ground running, with the experience to see what needs to be done and to jump straight into doing it.

Working at Lively

Lively is a small and growing organisation with big ambition, and we’re seeking to build a team of go-getters who are excited about coming with us on the journey and working to expand our reach and impact. We are a positive, warm and lively bunch (thus the name!), and though we may be small right now, we are committed to providing a rewarding employment experience with lots of opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Working with us at Lively, your fresh ideas are encouraged and creativity welcomed. We’re in an exciting growth period, which means that we are constantly learning, developing and improving – finding solutions to new emerging challenges, and working hard to strengthen our foundations and prepare for our next stages. This gives you a huge opportunity to see real results from your work – you’ll make a significant contribution to the development of the organisation, and see that translate into real and meaningful positive impact in young and older people’s lives.

While the role is offered as a fixed term 12-month contract due to current confirmed funding arrangements, we are committed to investing in long-term team members, and to pursuing opportunities for extension of the position.

What We Can Offer You

  • The chance to play a key foundational role in a small and growing enterprise, with wide opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A rewarding and impactful role, making real change in people’s lives.
  • Flexible work arrangements and a strong belief in work-life balance.
  • Pathway opportunities into senior management.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities.
