The Autism CRC was formed in 2013 to manage the Cooperative Research Centre for Living with Autism, a program funded by the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and Participants in the Centre. This world first national program has a term of 8 years to June 2021, and has three major areas of research focus:
- The Early Years: Delivering earlier, accurate diagnosis, thus facilitating life‐long benefits through access to appropriate early intervention;
- The School Years: Delivering better educational outcomes through improved learning and teaching approaches in schools; and
- The Adult Years: Delivering improved employment, further education and health and wellbeing outcomes for adults on the spectrum as they participate in society.
Autism CRC is moving into the second phase of its life, building the capacity, strategic partnering and additional funding arrangements for a sustained operation that undertakes major research and translation programs.

The Research Office Manager will have day-to-day responsibility for operations of the CRC Research Program, and responsibility for monitoring performance and preparation of reports on the research and education activities to the Commonwealth Government, the Autism CRC Board and related committees. The incumbent will also work closely with the Chief Research Officer and Program Directors providing oversight of the Autism CRC research program, including commissioning new research through the Autism CRC Investment Rounds.
Who are you?
This is a great opportunity for someone with at least five years’ work experience in commercial research program management.
Skills and experience
- Preferred experience in the autism community, as a person with the lived experience or who has worked in that community
- Relevant degree in Health Administration, Allied Health, Psychology, Science/Engineering, Human Services or Business
- Demonstrated expertise in research administration.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and collaborate with researchers.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- High level written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and also cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to develop relationships based on honesty, integrity and trust.
- High level of interpersonal skills and customer relationship building skills.

This is a full-time role based at the University of Queensland Long Pocket Campus, Indooroopilly. There is the possibility of flexibility with as little as an 8-day fortnight for a highly suited candidate. Staff parking is provided on site.
